She was sworn in Monday in Town Square Park in front of residents and supporters.
“It’s really important that we have the opportunity for women to be the mayor,” said Angvik. “All the little girls in Anchorage can say, ‘Mommy, I want to grow up and be the mayor.’”and municipal attorney are digging into the issues and working on draft policies, she said, to ensure clear communication and to build trust between APD and the community.
