We're honoring WGAL's 8 Who Care award winners. They're people in our community who are being recognized for their extraordinary community service. What started as one man's vision has grown into a movement to help the homeless.'We started with nothing, with just faith in God. That's really how it happens,' Deacon Mike Oles said.Oles started Off the Streets, which provides furniture and a deposit for an apartment.
It's about trying to give people dignity and respect,' Oles said.Oles got the idea to start Off the Streets when he was asked to speak to a group of kids about homelessness. He got help from the men and women he got to know in the shelters. 'I said, 'If you will speak to a group of 60 kids or so, I'll put you up in a nice motel for the night.
