Suspect shoots himself during SWAT situation on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO — A suspect at the center of an FBI-led SWAT response has shot himself, police said Friday morning. A standoff started around midnight in the Roseland neighborhood, in a residential area at 95th Street and Perry Avenue, after a report of a man with a gun.FBI officials said it is believed the suspect shot himself around 9:30 a.m., and medical professionals were providing aid. His condition is unknown at this time.
Chicago police and the FBI were assisting Matteson police with this investigation.Earlier this week, Matteson police announced a nationwide manhunt for Lander D. Coleman, the suspected gunman who they said shot a young mother and her two children inside their home in the south suburb. At first Matteson police said they had made contact with Coleman, but then retracted their statement. Sources connected to the victim said the suspect involved in the standoff is Coleman.
