Tyler Reed Sanders, 21, is charged with murder in the Sept. 2 slaying of 49-year-old Lafontae Dejarris Lenard. He is also charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Officers arrived to find a man – now identified as Sanders - shot outside the apartment building. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service rushed him to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Wade said another man and woman were shot and fled the apartment. They made it a short distance away but then were found by BFRS and also taken to UAB.
