A new study showed a big difference in long-term stroke survival rates for those who are Black compared to those who are white.

They're 20% more likely to die within five years compared to those who are white. While researchers aren't sure why, specialists in racial disparities said that one possibility is what's called "weathering." Mahaffey said that means if you have a lifetime of a lack of access to good medical care, financial barriers to healthy foods, and no safe place for outdoor exercise, you're more likely to suffer.
