Thousands are expected on Saturday morning at the megalithic circle on a plain in southern England.
The sun passes through the stones after rising at the ancient stone circle of Stonehenge , in southern England, as access to the site is given to druids, New Age followers and members of the public on the annual Winter Solstice, Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.
Rain has been forecast but there is no doubt it won’t be able to drown out the drumming, chanting and cheering. They base that on a recent discovery that one of Stonehenge’s stones — the unique stone lying flat at the center of the monument, dubbed the “altar stone” — originated in Scotland, hundreds of miles north of the site.
