A Columbus man is now forced to drive a Ford pickup truck after his high-performance car was stolen last month in downtown Columbus.
"It really hurts to lose something that you thought you were going to have for a while," said Atiba Jones , whose 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Skat Pak was stolen September 27th near North High Street in the Arena District.The car theft took a bizarre turn a few days later when Jones says he was notified his stolen vehicle received an oil change in Gahanna.
"If a person really knows about these cars, they are going to make sure before they get them, they have fresh oil," Jones said.with a Columbus Police effort to crack down on unlawful drag racing in the city, where 69 cars were impounded including one that was stolen."They steal Skat Paks or Hell Cats, switch out plates and take them to street takeovers," said Jones, "that way if they run away, or they get into a ditch, it's kind of hard for police to track them.
