The payments will help Massachusetts residents buy food and pay their utility bills. The city distributed debit cards to recipients in early March, a Chelsea city spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.The amount people will receive from this payment will depend on the recipient's household size.
This payment will be the second of three payments recipients are receiving from this program. The first payment was issued earlier this month on March 15, and the last one is planned for May. This three-month program will issue payments to recipients on the 15th of each month. After the third payment in May, there are no plans to continue the program, a spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.For an applicant to be selected for this program, he or she had to have been a resident of Chelsea and have had a household income 30% less than the area median. For a household of one, that would be $29,450, and for a household of two, it would be $33,650.
