The funds from this initiative, called the Chelsea Eats program, are meant to subsidize food and utility costs. A Chelsea spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that the funds are loaded on recipients' debit cards, which were issued in early March.To be eligible, families had to have been residents of Chelsea with a household income of 30% less than the area median.
The amount issued to recipients depends on how many people are in the household. A household of one receives $200, a household of two receives $300, and a household of three or more receives $400, according to the program's website.This payment marks the third and final payment for the program. The first payment was issued on March 15, and the second was issued on April 15.
The spokesperson informed the Washington Examiner that the program would be discontinued after this next payment.
