There are nine days left for El Monte, California, residents to apply for a guaranteed income program that will give them $500 every month for a year. A total of 125 applicants will be selected for this program, which is intended for mothers in the city.

Those interested in applying for this program can do so either in person at the city manager's office, online, or by mail.The recipients of this program will be selected by April 26, and the city anticipates the first payment will be sent out on June 1, according to the representative. To be eligible, an applicant must live within the city limits of El Monte, be a single female head of household with no spouse or partner in the house, and have children younger than 17. Additionally, applicants must have a verified income at or below the federal poverty line, be able to show a need for financial assistance due to the coronavirus pandemic, and be able to submit documents verifying school enrollment, proof of residency, proof of income, and a government-issued ID.
