With Philadelphia’s Jared McCain sidelined indefinitely due to a torn meniscus, San Antonio’s Stephon Castle has social media abuzz as the front-runner for the award. Castle, the fourth overall pick, has been showcasing his versatility, averaging 11.7 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game. His defensive instincts and ability to make plays in key moments have set him apart, keeping the Spurs competitive during stretches of this young season. Castle’s odds improved dramatically after McCain’s injury, but his shooting efficiency remains a hurdle. At just 37.8% from the field and 27.4% from three, Castle needs to improve his consistency to solidify his case.
