) - A manufacturer near Calvert received three years of probation and was fined for violating the Clean Air Act, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Alabama announced today.
According to court documents, the business includes an acid regeneration plant. It’s required to use a certain caustic solution to meet emission standards. In August 2017, the Environmental Protection Agency and Alabama Department of Environmental Management conducted a joint inspection of the plant. During that inspection, they found out the facility wasn’t using caustic solution, according to court documents.
