📈🏖️ Holidaymakers seeking a staycation in the UK can expect to pay 20% more this year for less service as inflationary pressures force hotels, restaurants and B&Bs to raise prices and cut their hours
caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and Brexit have made this summer the toughest ever for the industry and many businesses may not survive to the end of the year.
At the end of May, Visit Britain asked holidaymakers where they would visit this summer and more than a third said they would choose a staycation over an overseas trip this year. The survey also found that the top concern about taking a domestic break was the cost of living crisis, with many respondents believing household costs still have some way to go before hitting their peak.
The Institute of Hospitality said there were record levels of staff vacancies, leading many businesses to close for several days a week with some high-end hotels cutting operating hours.and business owners are having to pay a lot more for their staff,” said Mr Richardson.
