Staten Island Chuck, New York City's furriest weather predictor, will once again let us know whether there will be six more weeks of winter or if early spring will come this morning. Here's how to watch live: FOX 5 NY is streaming Groundhog Day ceremonies, including the Staten Island Zoo celebration. Staten Island Chuck, the Staten Island Zoo’s famous groundhog, will take part in his annual Groundhog Day ceremony. The free event is open to the public with gates opening at 7:30 a.m.
You can watch them live in the video player above or on our YouTube channel. The furry friend has been accurate more than 80% of the time dating back to the first Groundhog Day festivities at the Staten Island Zoo in 1981, according to zoo officials.There was also a brief mention of the notorious debacle at the celebration 10 years ago, when a previous Staten Island Chuck wriggled out of the hands of then-Mayor Bill de Blasio and fell to the ground. That Chuck died a week later.
