Mackey went on a walk-through along with Baldwin County Schools Superintendent, Eddie Tyler and school administrative staff. There are only a handful of schools across the country using this educational model and Mackey sees it as the future of education.
) - It was down the wire getting the Baldwin County Preparatory Academy open to students on time last week. The state-of-the-art facility is cutting edge, not just for the state but for the country. State Schools Superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey was given a tour of the school Monday, August 12, 2024 to see how students are settling in.
“I got lost like two, three times just trying to find my class,” said Construction Technology student, Chylenn Dortch. “It integrates all the things we’ve been talking about for really almost the seven years that I’ve been State Superintendent into one building and we’re just glad to be a partner in this and certainly, a lot of credit goes to this Board and Mr. Tyler for the vision they had…for the willingness to invest,” explained Mackey.
“I think it’s emotional for all of us in Baldwin County. It’s still surreal,” Tyler said. “Every time I walk through, I’m learning something new. Now, with students here for the third day, it kind of just…the feeling of this building, I mean it’s a school.”
