WALNUT CREEK — A senior care living home is fighting to remain open following the death in 2022 of a resident who drank poison.

A Contra Costa County coroner’s report said 94-year-old Constantine Canoun died of injuries consistent with drinking a caustic cleaning agent. Authorities say the man got the liquid because a facility employee failed to supervise him properly.
