Sophomore wing Brady Dunlap suffers a new abdominal injury on top of a previous UCL tear in his left hand, raising concerns about his season. Coach Rick Pitino seeks to avoid surgery and keep Dunlap's spirits high.
Brady Dunlap , a sophomore wing for St. John's , is facing another setback in his basketball career. He is already dealing with a torn UCL in his left hand and has now been diagnosed with a slight abdominal tear. Coach Rick Pitino revealed that an operation would end Dunlap's season and take approximately two to three months to heal. Pitino expressed concern for Dunlap's well-being, stating that he wants to avoid surgery if possible to keep the young player's spirits high.
Dunlap had previously experienced hip pain earlier in the year, which was traced back to his abdominal area. The abdominal tear has not improved since his hand injury, and tests confirmed the tear. A medical redshirt is a possibility, but Dunlap's focus remains on returning to the court this year if at all possible. Meanwhile, St. John's coach Rick Pitino received praise from Villanova coach Sean Miller who commended the Johnnies for their hard-playing and tough-minded attitude. St. John's is hoping to continue its strong performance and climb back into the Top-25 rankings. Freshman guard Jaiden Glover is still unable to shoot right-handed due to a bone bruise in his right wrist and is unlikely to play against Villanova on Saturday
