, the 2021 LVMH Prize-winning maker of lingerie-inflected fashion is out far, far ahead of the rest of the pack this season. She had an assist from celebrity model Emily Ratajkowski, who closed the show in an intricately engineered evening dress in cranberry pink chiffon, transparent enough for the boning and bra cups to peek through. The EmRata effect is real, but there is more at play here, I’d wager.
The young generation pay exceptionally close attention to the makers of their obsessions — social media helps with that — and they haven’t failed to notice or appreciate that Dojaka looks a lot like them. Albanian-born and based in London, Dojaka is still in her twenties, and she has the makings of a star. Much of fashion seemed to be following her lead this season, frankly sexual clothes are one of spring’s hottest themes.
As tends to be the case most seasons, the other names on the list are more familiar. Paris brands shined a little brighter than Milan labels , and Kering has three collections in the top 10 to LVMH’s two. The names that slipped off the list are Versace, Fendi and Miu Miu, while Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana are back after having not quite made the cut last season.
The list’s only other climber was Bottega Veneta. Matthieu Blazy’s second show held up to the promise of his debut and then some, with the likes of supermodel Kate Moss and the gallerist and #oldceline fan Lucy Chadwick joining the other catwalkers on a poured resin runway created by Gaetano Pesce.
