Negotiations have been going on for months over the major spending bills.

, known as the Build Back Better plan, and vote on infrastructure, Pelosi responded, “That’s the plan.”with key Senate vote Sen. Joe Manchin and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Sunday to finalize “particulars” on the spending bill, Pelosi noted, explaining the sticking points are over climate change, healthcare funding through Medicare and Medicaid and a care package that includes provisions like paid family leave, universal pre-K and elder care measures.

The House Speaker stressed the need to pass the infrastructure bill by October 31, as that is the day the Highway Trust Fund Authorization that funds federal transportation infrastructure expires. Though moderate Manchin has pushed back on Biden’s ambitious climate change proposal in the bill, Pelosi said she expected the final agreement would “meet the president’s goals.”

Pelosi said Democrats are “pretty much there” on reaching an agreement over the climate change provisions after lengthy negotiations, saying lawmakers are “almost there” and are just ironing out “the language of it.” Pelosi said she “hope[s]” four weeks of family leave makes it into the final bill, saying that’s what she is “fighting for,” and said negotiations are still ongoing over whether dental and vision coverage will be covered under Medicare.Pelosi described the negotiations over the bill as “lamb eat lamb,” saying it’s an instance of, “If everything is good in the bill, what do you cut?”
