UK holidaymakers have been warned

The Canary Islands are set to be battered by Storm Oscar, bringing heavy rain, winds of up to 55mph and possible flooding, . The islands are a popular tourist destination with Brits but this week the weather is set to turn.

It’s expected that the western most islands will be especially hard hit. Lazarote and Fuertevntura will be less affected, but could still see heavy rain. The Met Office UK, who have weather stations based in the Canary Islands said:"Heavy rain and brisk winds are forecast across the Canary Islands this week, leading to the risk of large waves and localised flooding."

AEMET has already issued orange weather warnings for some of the islands for Tuesday, June 6, where the winds could reach 55mph. Similarly, yellow rain warnings are in place for some islands that could see as much as 60mm in just 12 hours.
