SpaceX is gearing up for its next Starship launch, aiming for January 10th from South Texas. While neither SpaceX nor the FAA has officially confirmed the date, an international aviation website previously indicated a launch window beginning at 4 p.m. on January 10th, with backup dates through January 15th.

SpaceX is getting ready to ring in the new year with a Starship launch from South Texas as soon as Jan. 10. CEO Elon Musk posted the date on his X social media site Monday, about two weeks after Federal Aviation Administration issued a launch license for the next test flight. Neither the commercial space company nor the FAA have confirmed the Jan. 10 date. However, details about the plan were found earlier in a notice on an international aviation website.

The filing indicated a 97-minute launch window begins at 4 p.m. Jan. 10 with backups scheduled for the same time from Jan. 11 to Jan. 15. The notice has since been taken down. SpaceX has been preparing the first of its second-generation Starship mega-rockets for the test flight, which will be the seventh from the company’s Starbase near Boca Chica Beach. Standing at 170 feet, the updated spacecraft is slightly taller than its predecessors and has redesigned front flaps that SpaceX hopes will better withstand heating as it returns from space. The spacecraft set to launch, Starship 33 and its lower-stage Super Heavy booster 14, successfully test fired their engines in mid-December. SpaceX hasn’t announced its plans for the flight that’s expected to be like the previous two, with the booster stage attempting to land back at the launch tower while the upper-stage Starship continues around the world for a splashdown in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Australia. In November, a NASA e-mail to the FAA showed it’s planning to support the launch with a Gulfstream V jet equipped with sensors and cameras to capture images of Starship as reenters the atmosphere, passes over the horizon and splashes down in the Indian Ocean. That e-mail indicated a Jan. 11 launch date. The last South Texas launch was No
