Southwest and the airport are fighting over a new lease agreement that would keep the airline out of a new, $1.7 billion Terminal C
Southwest Airlines sued the city and its airport director late Thursday in an effort to stop a new airline lease agreement from going into effect at San Antonio International Airport on Oct. 1. The Dallas -based airline's federal lawsuit accuses airport officials of an unfair 'bait and switch' in negotiations for a 10-year lease agreement, which City Council approved earlier this month.
Southwest Airlines sues San Antonio over airport lease The airport has publicly denied that it ever promised to give Southwest gates in the new terminal. Southwest also claims the airport's criteria to determine which airlines would get gates in the new terminal were unlawful. 'Municipal governments that own and operate airports cannot apply subjective, discretionary factors to pick 'winners and losers' among the airlines competing for space at the airport,' the suit states.
