Sony's Sinister Six franchise hopes are underwhelming at best, but one simple change could help elevate their burgeoning cinematic universe.
Beginning with Venom, Sony's universe of Marvel characters has slowly been building to the debut of the very first live-action Sinister Six team but is missing one crucial element in the group's formation. As Sony continues to capitalize on the popularity of Marvel's characters, it is clear that it is only a matter of time before it brings together its own team of superheroes or, in this case, antiheroes and supervillains, for a major crossover event.
Sony's Sinister Six Shouldn't Fight Spider-Man Although the Sinister Six is best known for its frequent battles with the Amazing Spider-Man, Sony's burgeoning team of supervillains and antiheroes should target a completely different enemy altogether. Currently, Spider-Man has yet to appear in any films in Sony's new franchise, making him the biggest missing piece in building up to the Sinister Six.
There is far more reason for Sony's Sinister Six to fight Venom than Spider-Man. With the exception of the Vulture, none of the potential members of the team have ever met Spider-Man, giving them little motivation to team up in an effort to take him down. However, Venom's new role as Lethal Protector could put him firmly in the Sinister Six's crosshairs.
