A Sonoma County man who was reported missing over a month ago was found dead on a remote trail about 2 miles from his Santa Rosa home Monday, officials said.
A Sonoma County man who was reported missing over a month ago was found dead on a remote trail about 2 miles from his Santa Rosa home Monday, officialsLawrence “Larry” Atchison, 64, was last seen when he walked away from his Leafwood Circle home in Santa Rosa's Bennett Valley neighborhood Feb 27. When Atchison didn't return home, a communitywide search effort was launched.
"I know there were well over six search-and-rescue teams," said Rob Dillion, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, told SFGATE.said . His wife told the newspaper that he usually didn't leave the home alone but did that day while she was in the bathroom. Atchison was found March 27 by a woman walking along a rural trail in the 4500 block of Fawn Hollow Lane, a statement from the Santa Rosa Police Department said. Dillion said this is a remote area near Trione-Annadel State Park.Deputies immediately responded and confirmed the individual was deceased, police said. They noticed the clothing matched the description of the clothing that Atchison was wearing when he was last seen.
