Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 25200 block of Forest Sounds Lane for an assault-firearm call at around 5 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they located the victim, who was identified as Carol Kuykendall, with a gunshot wound. Further investigation led to the identification of Michael Scott Kuykendall as the suspect, MCSO said.
