For some older adults, skateboarding is for life

People who skate well into their adult years often do so because they have a baseline comfort with the sport, said skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.“A lot of my friends, they have these tricks sort of in their pocket and they can always do them,”“Even if they might seem dangerous to the outsider or to another skater, it’s something they are very familiar with. There’s muscle memory. And then there’s confidence.
People around the world are discovering skateboarding at a later age, said Hawk. There are mom groups in the U.K. where women in their 40s are learning to skateboard for the first time.“We have discovered that a teenage lifestyle can be enjoyed as long as you have the mind set,”Health experts say people in their 50s and 60s are exercising more like their younger selves than those who came before them.
