On Thursday at 8:41 a.m. a snow squall warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 9:15 a.m. for Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike and Wayne counties.
"At 8:41 a.m., a dangerous snow squall was located over Elmhurst, or near Scranton, moving east at 45 mph," adds the weather service. "Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes."
According to the weather service, "Reduce speed and turn on headlights! They can cause sudden white-out conditions and icy roads within minutes, even if there's no major winter storm happening.
