SMU is confident that quarterback Kevin Jennings is battle-tested ahead of his first start this season against TCU.

It’ll be the first time he does so at Ford Stadium in his career.
“It’s not his first start, and it’s not his first start in a big game,” Lashlee said Tuesday. “He’s been comfortable. He’s been eager and urgent. He honestly hasn’t changed a whole lot because he was already practicing well and playing like he was going to play.”SMU’s coaches and players felt comfortable with the early-season quarterback change because they watched it unfold last year.
Lashlee made the decision to give Jennings the starter title during the bye week to establish some consistency in his offense , which it has lacked to start the season. He’s said he feels Jennings gives SMU its best chance to win right now and that his dual-threat nature opens up the field.“Kevin’s fearless,” Lashlee said. “He plays the game fearless. Sometimes that gets him into trouble, but he plays it with a confidence and just a love-for-the-game kind of mentality, which I think is awesome. He knows what to do. He’s just got to go out and trust himself.
