Six Flags Fiesta Texas park President Jeffrey Siebert said the new theme is better fit for the Los Festivales area, which is inspired by San Antonio’s culture.
The Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is getting a makeover. The steel inverted roller coaster is being rechristened as Chupacabra, a vampiric creature from Latin American lore whose name means “goat sucker” in Spanish , the park announced Friday. The colors and landscaping around the ride are changing and will feature a carved sculpture of a chupacabra with glowing red eyes, wooden signs warning to “beware the chupacabra,” claw marks and piped-in howls.
The reception to the overhaul was positive on social media, with parkgoers describing the new theme as unique and praising Six Flags for making improvements to existing rides. Six Flags Entertainment Corp. merged with Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. this summer. The Charlotte, N.C.-based company owns 42 amusement and water parks, including Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels.
