Rock star Bret Michaels adopted a heroic dog that shared his name, making headlines after the dog donated life-saving blood to a severely anemic kitten in Nebraska.

But just because Michaels is the front man for the rock band Poison doesn't mean he didn't have to go through the adoption process like everyone else. Bret Michaels the dog is six years old when he helped saved a kitten with a xenotransfusion, which is a blood transfer from one species into another.
