Olympic team nicknames like “The Dream Team” and “The Fierce Five” capture public imagination, but Simone Biles’ nickname for the gold medal-winning Team USA women’s gymnastics squad will certainly raise some eyebrows.
The U.S. team has had some iconic names over the years. The 1996 team, for example, was nicknamed “The Magnificent Seven” as they captured gold in Atlanta. “The Fierce Five” won the 2012 gold medal in London, and “The Final Five,” led by Biles, won gold in Rio in 2016.Simone Biles helped Team USA capture gold in the women's team gymnastic competition.
