This last week I had a chance to attend and participate in two IEEE historical events in the San Francisco Bay area. One was to unveil three IEEE milestones at the SRI PARC in Palo Alto . The other was a celebration of the 50anniversary of TCP at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Palo Alto , where Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn wrote the original TCP proposal.
The Friday, May 17 event at SRI PARC honored three developments from Xerox PARC. The first milestone was for the Development of the Commercial Laser Printer in 1971-1977 that included Ron Rider, VP of Digital Imaging from Xerox PARC. The second milestone was for Xerox Alto Establishes Personal Networked Computing, 1972-1983 that included John Shoch, Office Systems Division President from Xerox PARC.

This was a full day event that had a few people at the same Crowne Plaza hotel in Palo Alto, CA where Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn created the TCP paper that launched internetworking in 1974.
