A real-life private investigator settles the debate regarding whether Sherlock Holmes or Benoit Blanc of the Knives Out franchise is the better detective. Murder mystery movies and TV shows have been popular for decades, and the character of Holmes, created by Arthur Conan Doyle, has remained a fixture of the genre in various incarnations.
“Mr. Blanc is more suited currently. However, if we were to bring Mr. Blanc back to Sherlock Holmes’ times, then Sherlock Holmes would win hands down. Modern investigators sometimes can be a bit lazy. What's Next For Sherlock Holmes & Benoit Blanc Both Characters Will Return Both Blanc and Holmes are set to return in various forms. Blanc will next appear in Johnson's Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which is due out in 2025. This film marks the second of Johnson's two contracted Netflix sequels to his 2019 franchise-starter, so it's not yet clear if there will be a fourth entry.
Holmes, on the other hand, could end up returning in several different iterations. A young Sherlock Holmes show is in development at Prime Video with Guy Ritchie directing and Hero Fiennes Tiffin set to star. In addition to this Ritchie project, the world of his Robert Downey Jr. Sherlock Holmes movies could also be returning. Though it's been 13 years since the last entry, there has been continued interest in seeing a potential Sherlock Holmes 3 come to life, including from Downey Jr.
