A day after San Francisco police officers shot and killed a driver who plowed into the Chinese consulate’s lobby Monday, the offices remained shuttered complicating travel plans

A sealed metal door and a single sheet of paper greeted people with appointments at the Chinese consulate’s visa office in San Francisco on Tuesday morning.

Some visitors had come to the corner of Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street from as far as Seattle, with international travel planned for later this week. Others needed to pick up their passports, which remain locked inside. “I actually wasn't paying attention because of the football game last night,” he said. But when his staffers texted him this morning alerting him of the incident, he figured, “The only way I'm going to know for sure is to just show up and see what happens.”
