Pete Putila, 33, will be the 10th GM of the San Francisco Giants, the club announced Monday night.
A perch that once sat vacant for over a year as Farhan Zaidi and Co. searched for the right right-hand man wasn’t going to stay open for long the second time around.
Putila, 33, has spent the past 12 years in the Houston Astros organization, with a focus on player development. He was named assistant general manager in 2021 and oversaw all minor- and major-league player development starting in 2016. Putila, a native of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, was reportedly a finalist for the job when Harris was named GM the first time around.
