According to The Hollywood Reporter, the changes will commence with season 56 that starts in 2025.
Sesame Workshop told The Hollywood Reporter that the format of "Sesame Street" will change for season 56 coming in 2025.
“With so many unique stories to tell, ‘Sesame Street’ will build upon last season’s joyful self and belonging content that resonated deeply with children and their families and will continue to do so by honoring, reflecting, and celebrating our diverse world,” said Sal Perez, executive producer of “Sesame Street.”
The new outlet said the show will change from a “magazine”-style format to “two longer, more narrative-driven segments, which will be paired with a new animated series, ‘Tales From 123.’ The new format will feature two 11-minute story segments, with the new animated series sandwiched in between them.”
Other changes will include a signature song in each episode and having the Muppet characters talk to the kids watching the show.
