A senior Russia n general, Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, was killed in a bomb blast in a Moscow residential neighborhood early Tuesday. Russia n media reported that Kirillov was killed by an explosive device hidden in a parked scooter and detonated remotely. The explosion also killed an aide accompanying him. Kirillov headed Russia 's radiation, chemical and biological protection troops.
Ukrainian sources told ABC News that the Security Service of Ukraine was behind the killing, calling Kirillov a war criminal for allegedly ordering the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops. The SBU charged Kirillov in absentia with war crimes on Monday for his alleged role in approving the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops. They said he was responsible for the mass use of banned chemical weapons on the Ukrainian front lines
