The Seattle Public Schools superintendent announced a revised consolidation plan for the 2025-26 school year.
Sinclair teamed up with Salvation Army to provide critical relief to communities picking up the pieces left behind by Hurricane Helene.In the announcement, the SPS Superintendent, Dr. Brent Jones, proposed consolidating five schools for the 2025-26 school year. Jones continued to write that what they learn from the initial set of schools will guide their action regarding future consolidations.
In the announcement, Jones also noted that under his revised plan, K-8 and option schools, including those with specialized service models like Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Dual Language Immersion, are notSeattle parents push back against potential salary increase for superintendent "We are working hard to close an approximate $100 million budget deficit for the 2025-26 school year," wrote Jones. "Each consolidation will moderately lower this deficit, contributing to our long-term financial stability."
