Seattle City Councilmember Bob Kettle released a new plan to make nightlife in Seattle safer, specifically targeting violence near hookah lounges.

The push comes after a mass shooting near a hookah lounge in the Chinatown-International District that left five people injured. Seattle officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of South Lane Street at 3:48 a.m. Police found multiple shell casings from inside and outside of a nearby hookah lounge, but no victims were found in the area.
Four men and a woman were injured in the shooting, with their injuries ranging from minor to serious condition, according to Seattle police. One man needed emergency surgery for his injuries.Similar concerns surfaced after another shooting at a lounge in south Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood killed three people and injured nine.
