Berkeley police shut down Oregon Street, Fulton Street and Shattuck Avenue in the wake of the shooting to investigate, though the suspect vehicle – described only as a silver sedan – was not found. No description of the driver was available.
Berkeley Police Department units were called just after 3 p.m. Wednesday to the 2100 block of Oregon Street, between Shattuck Avenue and Fulton Street near Grove Park, on reports of the shooting after receiving a call from a motorist who told the dispatchers they had been"following a suspicious vehicle that may have been involved in a crime ," according to Berkeley police.
The occupant of the suspect vehicle began shooting at the other motorist shortly after they began following, though no injuries were reported, according to the BPD. The motorist ceased following the suspect vehicle after the gunfire erupted.
