While at SDCC2023, Screen Rant spoke to the JusticeLeagueWarworld creative team about the DCOfficial movie's R rating, playing with conic characters in new genres, and which DC heroes didn't make the cut:

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In Justice League: Warworld, the famed trio of heroes, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, are shunted into new environments where they meet new potential enemies and allies. They and a new team will need to reunite to escape Warworld and defeat the one who has brought them there. Justice League: Warworld is part of the ongoing DC animated Tomorrowverse.

Jeremy Adams: Oh, boy. In terms of Warworld, if you're familiar with DC at all, you understand Mongul and the War World and all that stuff. I think what's interesting about this is we get into that story a little bit differently, and it definitely keeps the viewer off-kilter, not knowing exactly. "Hey, this is titled Warworld, what's happening? Where are we?"

Butch Lukic: It's mostly rated R because of the violence. There's a lot of bloodletting, sword-fighting, and gunfights. The violence, and then the R rating's coming from that. Originally, honestly, it's a PG 13. Did having it rated R help you give you the freedom to tell a story that you wanted to tell without compromising?

Jim Krieg: It also works as a story point in that if they did have amnesia and you left Superman in Metropolis, as a newsman, he would figure it out a lot faster. Putting them in situations that are far afield from where they started actually helps the puppet master's goals for the movie. Ernie Altbacker: I didn't get to chime in on that. I get the story after the decisions are made, and then I get to tell it. But the characters that we picked are the ones I would've wanted, especially Wonder Woman in that Spaghetti Western, that was very much the point of that.

Telling this story is pretty large and epic, and putting it all together has to be a challenge. What was the most challenging part of bringing Warworld together? Jim Krieg: And then there's a whole fourth part where they fight the big bad and they come together as... It's really four movies. Jim Krieg: The whole thing. I think the fun of it is that it's three worlds, and we haven't quite seen it like that before. It'll be interesting to see if they respond to it, which hopefully they will.
