On Wednesday, April 10, Rothstein reported that Kentucky was planning to officially meet with Drew about their head coaching vacancy in the near future. Well, it seems as though that meeting may have taken place in some form or fashion within the last 24 hours, and a decision was reached. "In our program, we strive to put Jesus first, then others, then ourselves. We truly believe God has called my family and I to continue our work here at Baylor, surrounded by the best people and community anyone could be blessed to have.
On Tuesday, April 9, Kentucky's Head Coach John Calipari announced his departure from the program in a social media post. On Wednesday, theDrew, who was hired by Baylor in 2003, was able to transform the Bears into a contender year in and year out. He led the Bears to be named Big 12 regular-season champions multiple times and brought the university its first National Championship in 2021.
All of these accomplishments are what made Drew a prime candidate for the position. These accomplishments are also why the Baylor community is happy to keep Drew in Waco.
