Before the giant pandas return to China, the all-ages Panda Palooza festival celebrates the bears with music, crafts, games and cultural events.
from Saturday through Oct. 1: nine days of panda-themed activities for all ages, ranging from music to film screenings to yoga, as well as daily activities featuring the guests of honor. If you’re going to celebrate our favorite black-and-white bears, here’s what you need to know.The most basic thing to know if you’re heading to the zoo this or any weekend: Free daily entry passes are still required, even for children and infants.
The Embassy of China will be at the zoo each Saturday with calligraphy activities on the Asia Trail and free sweet and savory Chinese snacks at the panda house. Other attractions include a dress-up station with traditional Hanfu clothing and a mask-making craft station .To start the party, Tian Tian, Mei Xiang and Xiao Qi Ji will receive special ice cakes — a panda favorite made with frozen fruit juice and usually decorated with fruit and bamboo — at 9 a.m. Saturday.
