Saturday forecast: Air quality alert called, thunderstorms expected in afternoon
Friday’s storms brought damaging wind gusts to portions of northern Illinois overnight. Officials confirm at least one tornado happened near the Warrenville/Wheaton area based on radar and debris, officials said.Survey teams are out investigating other reports of damage near Elk Grove Village Friday night.
While tornadoes are not expected Saturday, isolated wind gusts up to 50 mph is a possibility in some areas, mainly in northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, officials said. Current conditions at Chicago’s airports is mostly cloudy at 82 degrees. A high of 85 degrees is expected Saturday.
