Sarah Michelle Gellar is not interested in a Buffy reboot.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the most iconic shows of all time, and it was announced in 2018 that a reboot was in the works with original series creator, Joss Whedon. At the time, it was revealed that Agents of SHIELD alum Monica Owusu-Breen would write the script and serve as the showrunner. However, in August of this year, executive producer Gail Berman appeared on The Hollywood Reporter's TV's Top 5 podcast , and said the Buffy reboot is now"on pause.

"I'm not," Gellar told SFX Magazine ."I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn't need to be done. We wrapped that up. I am all for them continuing the story because there's the story of female empowerment. I love the way the show was left: 'Every girl who has the power can have the power.' It's set up perfectly for someone else to have the power. But like I said, the metaphors of Buffy were the horrors of adolescence.
