A man is accused of cutting a store clerk with a box cutter and breaking the store’s glass door after being told to put back a canned drink.A man fled from an East Side store early this morning after allegedly trying to steal a beverage, breaking a glass door and then injuring a store clerk, San Antonio police said.
According to a preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called to the 1700 block of North New Braunfels Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.The clerk told police he noticed a man placing a canned beverage in his bag, and confronted the man. When the man denied it, the clerk said he took the beverage out of the bag and told the man to leave.
The man “began eating a candy bar, then grabbed a couple more on his way outside,” according to the report. He then threw a piece of firewood at the glass door, causing it to shatter, and brandished a box cutter at the store clerk, cutting his hand, it added.
