League Park is again hosting the annual Frank Petruno annual Old Timers Sandlot reunion.

Registration begins at noon, and a program honoring former sandlot stars-turned-Major Leaguers Garry Roggenburk and Rich Rollins will begin at 12:30 p.m. Afterward, organizers said, folks can mingle and reminisce. The program runs to about 3 p.m.

The Cleveland-born Roggenburk went to St. Ignatius High School and the University of Dayton. He was a relief pitcher for three big-league teams from 1963 to 1969. Rollins, who went to Parma High School and Kent State University, played from 1961 to 1970 and hit .269. He was an All Star in 1962 with Minnesota, where he spent the majority of his career. He played his final season with Cleveland.

This year’s event also will focus on seeking donations for the museum, which has emphasized sandlot ball in recent years. The origins of sandlot baseball go back decades. Cleveland was one of the more organized cities for the quality of sandlot ball, which was coordinated with the city’s parks and recreation departments.BrewDog coming out with beer to support Ohio State athletesIf you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
