Located in East Village, the new hotel came to life as a Magaritaville property following a $31 million makeover that includes a new pool deck bar and signature restaurant
Parrotheads rejoice, San Diego’s first Margaritaville hotel has finally arrived — in downtown San Diego.
A lot of raw materials were used, including concrete and stucco, as well as reclaimed wood for furnishings. The decor is “influenced by Jimmy Buffett’s Laurel Canyon days reminiscent of the summer of love with art and decor that echoes the golden state in the 1960s,” said Hollister, quoting the hotel’s design team.
For those more inclined to waste away in Margaritaville, there’s the rooftop deck on the fourth floor that has been renamed 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar. The space originated as JBar and later became Upper East Bar before being redesigned with the Margaritaville motif. At 7,000 square feet, it is believed to be downtown’s largest rooftop deck, says Hollister. It, too, will feature live music, he said.
