The San Diego Humane Society is offering a lifeline to dogs displaced by the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Leslie, a German Shepherd from Pasadena, is just one of the many animals who found refuge in the city's temporary haven. The organization's efforts to clear out space and provide fostering opportunities highlight the community's compassion and dedication to helping animals in need.

A German Shepherd named Leslie found herself in an unexpected situation. After being evacuated from the Pasadena Humane Society due to the devastating wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area, Leslie and 38 other dogs arrived at the San Diego Humane Society's foster center on Monday. They joined a long list of dogs already awaiting adoption, forming a temporary haven away from the fiery danger.

The San Diego Humane Society's staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly to provide care and comfort to these displaced animals. They've been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have stepped up to foster these dogs, creating much-needed space in the shelter. Leslie's journey found her a new foster home with Stacie Mittelman, who was deeply moved by the animals' plight. 'I just want to do anything I can to help,' Mittelman said. 'I used to foster before I had one of my own. But the fires in LA and the immediate kind of need brought me down here especially today,' she explained.Leslie's story exemplifies the collaborative spirit that has emerged during this crisis. The San Diego Humane Society's efforts extend beyond providing temporary shelter. They're actively working to clear out space in their facilities to accommodate more dogs from Pasadena and other areas facing the devastating impacts of the wildfires. Jordan Frye, a spokesperson for the San Diego Humane Society, emphasized, 'We know that need in Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area is continuing.' The organization is particularly in need of fosters for large dogs (50+ lbs) who can provide a single-dog household environment. 'This is my opportunity to help out,' said Adam Pena, one of the volunteers stepping up to foster a dog from San Diego, freeing up a space for a dog from LA
