SAN ANTONIO -SAWS customers face possible high use surcharges following city council ordinanceA new watering rules ordinance was approved last week by City Cou

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Water System officials announced Tuesday morning that they've entered Stage 3 watering rules.

Under the updated Stage 3 watering regulations, which was approved last week by City Council, the permitted irrigation system hours remain unchanged from Stage 2 . However, starting July 6, 2024, residential customers using 20,000 gallons or more per billing cycle will incur a high-use surcharge. “These changes encourage customers with very high outdoor use to reconsider their watering patterns in Stage Three. In addition, going to a new administrative enforcement process with one-time charges on SAWS bills for violations rather than criminal citations creates a more efficient and fair process for all SAWS customers, regardless of where they live in the metro area,” said Karen Guz, SAWS Vice President of Conservation.
